butterfly fly away

Life has been busy, the holidays have been great, but now I am so happy to let things slow down and to enjoy the little moments with our little family.  The sun was shining bright today, the weather forecast looks great, and it makes me happy.  I was sad to see 2011 go...this year has been a fun one, but I am looking forward to 2012...I love the people I spend my days with...and I am so happy that I get to be Sawyer & Harper's mom...it's better than just about anything.  I am pretty lucky and I know it but I don't take it for granted.  I can't believe how fast my girls are growing.  Everyday really is more fun, but it makes me sad to think how fast it goes by...although I am trying to soak it up as much as I can now so I am not regretting how we spent our time together later.   Life is good. My kids are my favorite.  The husband isn't half bad either (Who am I kidding?  He is a total keeper!)

I love it when I feel happy way deep down in the pit of my stomach, that's the real kind of happy.  I think I might just burst.

Me and Sawyer have a new song obsession at the moment...I tear up at this part.  It is even sweeter because Sawyer sings along with me.  Who are these little girls going to be?  I don't know, but I do know that they will always be loved.

I always knew the day would come
You'd stop crawling, start to run
Beautiful as beautiful can be

Caterpillar in the tree
How you wonder who you'll be
Can't go far but you can always dream
Wish you may and wish you might
Don't you worry, hold on tight
I promise you there will come a day

Fashion Island Christmas Tree & Santa

Back in the beginning of December me and the girls met Marc one day after work at Fashion Island to see the giant Christmas tree and to give Santa a little visit.  The tree was great, we all loved it.  Santa was another story, I am pretty sure Harper hated his guts.  She cried as soon as she touched his lap and stopped crying as soon as we picked her back up.  It was amazing. Sawyer on the other hand acted timid, but afterwards was very proud that she told Santa that she wants a pink bike for Christmas.  I hope Santa makes all of their wishes come true this year; he has sure been working hard!

I took a picture of our picture with Santa with my iPhone.  Harper is so chapped....her eyes are seriously going in opposite directions.  Classic.

And now that picture is proudly displayed in our entry way.

Bottom Line

I am laying by our Christmas tree and all of my family is asleep. It is nice to have a few moments to myself (I actually had a lot of moments tonight because Marc was a gem and watched the kids while I got my hair done). I usually spend my time by myself thinking about my family, daydreaming about my family and loving my family. The bottom line is, I really love these people...they were meant to be with me and I was meant to be with them. Life is funny like that, you usually end up right where you are supposed to be. I really like that. I didn't really like being woken up at 6:00 this morning, but I suppose that comes with the territory.

These babies were plucked right out of heaven...they are perfect.

I feel bad when I complain about my day (it is possible I complained today, exhaustion & stress do that to you) but I know I have it good...just ask Marc. Marc asked me one night to name one person that has it better than me and I couldn't come up with much besides Taylor Swift, and sometimes I even think that that is debatable.

What makes a good life? I believe a happy family does.

Shorty

Harper had her 18 month check-up the other day, when she was 18 1/2 months old :)

She is perfect and healthy and everything is good.  We were unsure whether or not we should be concerned about her speech, she says stuff, but not much, and the doctor said she is fine.  Ya!

Harper is on the smaller size of average.  To me she seems like a little chub ball, but I think the size of her face/cheeks/chin is just deceiving.  I like to call her Queen of the Buffet...the girl LOVES to eat!

Weight - 23 lbs. 4 oz. - 35th percentile
Height - 31.5 inches - 45th percentile
Head Circumference - 18.5 inches - 60th percentile.

We love our little shorty, she is a pretty funny too.

Lookin' good Harps, lookin' good!

It was Sawyer's idea to take this picture...so why does she look so annoyed?

Our first day outside after spending time indoors recovering from the stomach flu.  The sun has never felt so good!

lay with you forever

Tonight before bed Sawyer asked me if I would lay with her forever. My heart about burst with happiness...I love my babies so much it practically hurts.

I look around at all 3 of the cute faces I share my home with and it makes me smile, my family makes me happy.

I am not sure how I got so lucky, but I won't stop and ask questions...I am just going to go with it.

I love how much my girls love each other. I got mad at Sawyer for knocking Harper over tonight and Sawyer had to go to time-out on the stairs. Harper, being the sweet little thing that she is, went over and gave her big sister hugs & kisses while Sawyer cried on the stairs about not wanting to be in trouble. It was kind of ironic.

The other night Sawyer and I went out to pick up dinner and Sawyer spotted a star in the sky. Sawyer pointed at the star and said "That's just a little star, it must be the same age and my little baby sister Harper". It was the cutest. What will I do when I don't have cute little voices telling me cute little things all day long? Probably cry.

I am so happy. I will happily lay with my family forever - they are the best.

Snow in Orange County

Last night Marc went out to dinner with some work people and I was at home with the girls.  I put Harper to bed and sat down to watch a movie with Sawyer.  I decided to click onto Facebook and everyone's status updates were about the crazy thunder and lightning storms (we had nada in San Clemente) and about the SNOW in Laguna Hills.  What the?! Kelsey called me a little bit later and we decided to wake up Harps and pack the babes into the car and drive to Laguna Hills to see what all the fuss was about.  I bet you didn't know I was so wild and crazy going out at 7:00 at night like that ;)

We drove through Nellie Gail and didn't see anything unusual, but after we turned the corner onto La Paz the ground looked like it had dry ice on it and it was foggy and eerie looking.  The next thing we knew we were looking at snow on the ground in Laguna Hills! It was so weird.  We wanted some place to pull over so we went to the Laguna Hills Mall parking lot.  I realized we missed out on some of the bigger piles of snow, but we were still excited with what we saw.

Upon closer examination I am pretty sure it was just massive amounts of hail, but I really don't know and snow in Orange County sounds much more exciting.

Harper was weary at first and then decided that it was pretty cool.  Sawyer kept asking where the "regular snow" was and wondered why the stuff we were standing on was so icy.  Sawyer's request was to make snowballs, but unfortunately, that didn't happen.

It was pretty fun and exciting and I am glad we made the big adventure 25 minutes north because it was totally worth it.  I never thought I would see "snow" in the town that I grew up in.

The evening ended when Sawyer fell on her bottom and got super cold and wet.  We had an unhappy little girl and decided to head back home...and straight to bed.

(not so) MERRY & BRIGHT

Harper has opinions, lots of them.  Harper apparently hates frilly rompers, candy cane striped leg warmers, and Christmas lights.   She mostly hates these things when they all come together at once and her mom tries to take pictures of her.

...maybe next year...

thank you for your tiny spark

She makes me smile and laugh. There is something about this little one, I just can't get enough.

She woke up at 6:00 this morning, about an hour and a half earlier than normal. We took time admiring her tree. Her sister spent the night at her grandparents'...I think Harper likes having me all to herself.

I need her. Life wouldn't be the same without her.

When the blazing sun is gone,
     When he nothing shines upon,
Then you show your little light,
     Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.

Then the traveller in the dark,
Thanks you for your tiny spark,
He could not see which way to go,
If you did not twinkle so.

...cozy day...

Today is cold and rainy.  Glad I have these cuties to be cozy with.

November Randomness

I take a lot of pictures...usually the pictures just capture the randomness of our day.  There is a lot that gets left "unposted".  Nothing exciting, nothing interesting, just us being us.  Here is some randomness from November. We love that we can still play outside in tank tops in November (Sawyer picked her own outfit, for the record).

Seeing them together just never gets old.

Playing outside...

Sawyer "reading".  She has a tendency to make up words, even when she is just talking to me.  I don't really understand why, but I do think it is kind of funny.  Her reading is the best.

Harper at her finest...
