Sawyer is growing up. She no longer drinks from a sippy cup, she no longer sleeps in our bed, she hasn't wet the bed in two weeks (she probably will tonight since I said that) and she has learned how to take self-portraits with my iPhone. They might not be the most flattering photos, but we still think she's pretty cute from every angle. I love this girl so much.
Today was a perfect day for the beach. It was hot but not scorching, and kids are in school so it was practically empty. We met up with some of our best friends at Salt Creek and soaked in the sunshine and had a great afternoon. Sawyer and Ellie are BFF and Harper entertained the seagulls with her constant snacking. The seagulls literally encircled Harper at all times. I was worried that they might attack her, but she acted as if she had it all in control. I love days like these.
Harper and the birds...
(I love when she tries to swat them away at the beginning of the video)
We had a good start to the week since Marc had Monday off. I love 3 day weekends.
We just hung out as a family on Monday and had some lunch out. Sawyer watercolored some paper hearts and we framed them for a little Valentine's Day decoration. We have a lot of those white Ikea frames, so we just keep filling them up with the girls' holiday art.
On Tuesday Mazie's daycare was closed for an inservice day so she got to come and hang out with me and the girls all day. All three of the kids were really good, it is just more challenging having two 1 and 1/2 year olds. Maybe challenging is the wrong word, I think the word I am looking for is tiring :)
My kids (and myself!) love love Mazie...we treat her just like one of us.
I took the girls for a walk. I pushed the babies (I know they technically aren't babies, but they are still babies to me) in the stroller and Sawyer rode her bike. Our walk got cut short because 1.) Harper wouldn't leave her shoes on and it was pretty col outside 2.) Harper was getting cranky and ready for a nap.
When we got home the little girls went down for their naps. Sawyer enjoyed some quiet time and did a little watercolor painting in the nude.
Harper took a 2 and a 1/2 hour nap. Mazie took a 30 minute nap.
Mazie liked Sawyer's dollhouse.
Since Harper slept for a good chunk of the afternoon, Sawyer and Mazie got in some quality time together.
Sawyer practiced her iPhone photography skills and used Mazie as her muse.
Sawyer and Mazie cuddled.
We went outside to play with the bubble machine but that was short lived because Mazie kept getting mad at the bubbles...she was probably mad at the bubbles because she stood in front of the machine and the bubbles would pop right on her face...I am sure that was annoying for her ;)
Mazie dined alfresco. Sawyer already had her lunch, but she brought some cookies outside and joined her cousin.
Sawyer decorated Mazie's hair with hibiscus flowers.
Sawyer practiced her "faces". This upset face of hers was my favorite.
Sawyer's kissy face needs a little work.
When Harper finally woke up the girls got kind of wild. They were running through the house like little crazy people.
It was time to head out to the front yard and burn off some steam. The little ones pushed around the baby strollers and Sawyer rode her bike and chased down the neighborhood kids.
It was a really fun day. We loved having Mazie around. In March we get to have Mazie spend the night and we are already looking forward to it :)
