Thumbs Up for a BOY!

So I lied.  After one of my best friends went and got an early ultrasound done to find out what she was having I suddenly got super anxious and had to do the same...I couldn't wait until 20 weeks.

We are having a BOY! We are so excited! I am pretty sure Marc did a little fist pump when the ultrasound tech gave us the news.  She said she is 99% sure, and based on the pictures, I am feeling pretty confident about it too (no worries, no private part pictures will be posted on this blog...I always think that is so awkward and weird when people share those with the world).

It seems as though everyone "knew" I was having a boy ever since I got pregnant.  That is sort of what I thought too, but I don't like making guesses, I feel like people automatically assume that whatever gender you guess that is the gender you "prefer" and it makes me feel guilty - even though that may not be the case at all.

Our baby is already giving us a thumbs up...

our family cannot wait to add a little dude to the mix :)

(And Marc could really use a teammate, us 3 girls can be kind of tough on him)

This is so much fun.

my best things

My girls are my best things - they are the cutest, funniest, quirkiest, sweetest, bossiest, bestest little people around. If I got to hand pick my own kids, I know I would choose them...they are so perfectly ours.

It will be so fun to meet #3. We still don't know what we are having. It's a little odd but I am actually enjoying the suspense. I am 16 weeks now and have a bumpity bump. I often forget I am pregnant since I am so busy with the other two. Seeing myself with a belly is alarming at times since there are moments when I kind of forget that I am growing a child. This is actually my favorite pregnancy so far...I feel like I know what to expect and I don't feel anxious at all and I am just more content than I have been before.

Life is so busy and exhausting and at times stressful, but it is happy, and happy is all I ever really want to be.

EB & Sprinkles

We went to visit the Easter Bunny this year...twice.  Somehow we didn't manage to get any pictures with him though.  The first time we went to see EB he was on a "carrot break" and there was like a two hour wait.  Since it was getting close to Harper's nap time we decided to skip it and come back later.  The second time we went to see EB I couldn't convince my girls to get anywhere near him.  Harper was absolutely terrified, clinging to me for dear life, and Sawyer cooly told me "I don't want to see the Easter Bunny anymore".  If Marc had been with me I think it would have been fun to force the kids to have their photos taken (tears and all) but my pregnant self just didn't have the energy.  The day wasn't a total waste though...we got to eat lunch with some of our friends and Sawyer got to hang out with her bestie.  We also hit up Sprinkles, why are those cupcakes so good?!

Harper only liked checking out the Easter Bunny from afar, and she wasn't even sure she liked doing that.

Two peas in a pod.

Harper's Theory: When in doubt lift your shirt (we are hoping this phases out as she gets older).

Who does this homeless child belong to?

Yay for fun play dates! We are so lucky to have so many fun friends.

Dot Art & Fun Dip

When my sister and Gabe were moving into their new house, I helped watch Mazie for a few hours so that they could get some work done. Marc used his muscles and helped them move furniture, so I had the 3 girlies at home by myself.  We had a good afternoon.  We got McDonald's drive-thru (and ate in the car while watching Rio...it sounded like way too much effort to get everyone out and go inside to eat), we did Dot Art (the little girls were even kind enough to Dot Art our back patio when I went inside for ONE SECOND to get a bottle of water), and they devoured packets of Fun Dip.  I am pretty sure Mazie actually tried to eat the packet, she just couldn't get enough :)  It may not have been our most nutritional day, but we had fun.

(It totally looks like Sawyer has pigeon poop on her nose, but do not fear, she had just applied sunscreen to protect her scraped up  nose)

Blondies.

I can't get over my little sun bunnies - I love their bronzed skin and blonde hair.  I think they are the cutest.

I don't have a ton of old pictures of myself and of Marc, but here are a couple.  I am not that surprised by our girls' hair color.

I am so excited to meet Baby #3 and to add them to our little family :) I wonder who they will look like!

Proud Mama

I am never really aware of what other kids other than my own are doing (not because I don't think your kids are awesome, I am just preoccupied with my own) so I have no clue if Sawyer is behind or ahead of the curve on this one. Sawyer is a great colorer and she loves to paint. She has loads of patience for crafty things and she usually produces pretty good work. Up until this point Sawyer has never actually drawn anything though besides a circle and some scribbles. Last weekend Marc challenged Sawyer to draw a person and we were both surprised & excited when this was what she came up with. We laugh that she put an emphasis on the eyebrows...Sawyer kind of has Brooke Shields eyebrows, except I happen to think Sawyer is cuter (don't tell Brooke I said that).

whatever it is

Whatever it is, these people have it.  They make me so happy that my eyes fill with tears and every part of me feels whole.  I don't know how I got so lucky.  They are everything I have ever wanted.  During the day there are so many moments of imperfection, but at the end of the day, everything is perfect, because these three are mine.  I wish everyday got to be an evening stroll on the beach with my family, because there really isn't anything much better.  My heart bursts with joy at the thought of getting to bring another little being into this world.  Creating a life with your best friend is the best, nothing can compare.  I love you Marc, I love you Sawyer, I love you Harper!

Weeknights

Weeknights are some of my favorite nights. I like the routine. I love the time spent with one another - and the best part is when we are all cozy in our jams and snuggled up on the couch together. I have a hard time doing things with friends during the evenings, or even running errands, because I look forward to our family time in the evening so much. I love getting a chance to be lazy with Marc and to just relax. After dinner is served and cleaned up, and the kids have started to wind down, I feel like I am in heaven.

This was this afternoon when the girls were having quiet time and eating Captain Crunch. We have a no food or drink policy that is enforced in our family room so they set up a picnic spot just outside the kitchen right before the family room rug starts. I love these little wild things of mine. They kind of drive me crazy sometimes, but they are my favorite little people ever - they make my heart smile. And I am glad I am married to their dad, he is the bees knees.

Some March Happenings

March came and went pretty fast.  I didn't expect it to be so busy, but luckily the busy was mostly fun stuff.  Battling first trimester pregnancy fatigue made it pretty much impossible to keep up with my blog and the loads of pictures that have piled up on my compact flashes.  I found out that I have hypothyroidism which makes you extra tired, but now that I am being treated for it things seem to be better and I have a lot more energy. It is kind of a bummer to have to take drugs every single day, but at least it is treatable (and I am hopeful that it will go away after this pregnancy...fingers crossed).

During the month of March we saw a private screening of the Lorax in 3D and the girls did great.  We had a sleepover with cousin Mazie, we played in the sprinkler, had lunch dates out, visited some friends that were camping down by the beach, Sawyer fell and scraped up her nose and we did a lot of the typical playing at home stuff.

The girls got bags of goodies after the movie, including a copy of the book.

We woke up early since the movie was showing in the AM in Los Angeles.  The girls were pretty tuckered out afterwards - it was a quiet ride home.

One day we went up to cousin Mazie's park by her old apartment complex.  Poor Mazie wasn't feeling too good.

One night Mazie's parents had a date planned for the two of them up in LA so we took Mazie all day and over night so that Bryt & Gabe could get some stuff done in their house as well as get a little break and a night out.

It was a rainy weekend which was a little challenging with 3 wiggly kids but we watched movies, painted, played with Hot Wheels (yes we bought a Hot Wheels contraption for 3 little girls to play with and it was surprisingly popular), ate, and did all the things little people like to do and we had fun.

Mazie has a creative spirit and I wasn't fully aware of this.  She  had paint all over her arms and hands and when she was finished with her work of art she set the paper (wet paint side down) on the top of her head, so all of the girls had an impromptu bath.

It was fun having a little visitor for the night, and I know Sawyer & Harper always love having Mazie around to play with.

One evening we went down to Doheny to visit our friends that were camping down by the beach.  Our intention was to make s'mores but we got busy talking and playing that we never got around to it.

Unfortunately, right as we were saying goodbye to everyone, Sawyer tripped and fell right on her nose and scraped it up pretty bad.  It was pretty gnarly looking for a few days...poor girl.  One morning Sawyer looked in the mirror, grabbed her nose and said "Oh no! It is spreading!".  Haha...she wasn't too excited about looking like rudolph.

Since we have been trying to avoid scarring, we have been putting sunscreen on Sawyer's nose as well as Zinka, Mederma and Acquaphor (not all at the same time).  It is now alsmot all healed and it looks pretty good, but we took lots of precautions.

I think March was a pretty good month.  Here are a few more randoms caught on my iPhone...
