Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

I was feeling guilty today.  I got to go sit at the nice quiet beach and enjoy some warm sunshine and good company while Marc was working his rear off.  Sorry babe.  Yesterday I felt the sunshine in my bones, today I wanted to feel it on my skin.  Me and the girls headed to the beach after Harper woke up from her nap.  We only stayed a couple of hours and it was so perfect.  There were about 10 other people (total) at the beach and the girls were happy (always a plus)and I really don't mind 75 degree weather in March.

Bikinis on babies aren't usually my thing...but these girls in their swimsuits made me smile...especially Harper's frilly triangle top :)

Harper is like my little doll.  I will be sad when she can move around, because for now, she just sits where I put her and looks cute and I can admire her without her trying to crawl away.

I attempted to take a picture of me with the girls.  I will work on that skill.

I enjoyed my view...

Sawyer went to the beach for the first time ever without wearing a diaper under her swimsuit.  She ended up peeing all over my beach chair and as she carried her bucket around looking for treasures on the beach I noticed "water" dripping down her legs.  Proper potty training isn't really our thing...maybe it should be :)

Today I realized how much our kids have changed since last summer...and it isn't even summer yet!  Last August when we were in Hawaii Harper stayed in a car seat at the beach so that we didn't have to lay her in the sand (since she couldn't sit up on her own).

Harps was sampling the sand...

Because I took a picture of Harper, Sawyer wanted me to take one of her too.  I did.  Happily.

I feel so lucky to get to spend my days with these two little lovelies.

The only thing that could have been better today is if Marc could have been with us too.  Next time :)

Cinnamon Maple Snacks

I bought Harper some new cinnamon maple snacks the other day thinking she might really enjoy them...I was wrong.  I enjoy watching her eat them, but I don't think she thought they were too good.

And if you are wondering what Sawyer is complaining about in the background, she wanted me to make her the beans and canned corn she found in the pantry.

Sunshine In My Bones

Today was a good day.  It started with two happy little girls in the morning.

We didn't do much today but I could feel the sunshine in my bones, I was happy.

Lazy days with my girls are the best.

We made it out of the house and to the grocery store, but that was about it.  I was really tired, so it was lucky that we didn't have much we needed to get done.  Although, I am sure Marc would have liked it if I had done a little more cleaning ;)

Harps is so happy sitting in her high chair snacking on puffs.  We tried some other little finger foods today, she wasn't too interested.

I really didn't want Sawyer to bring that blanket outside (it is our good one for the family room) but she insisted.  Sawyer pretty much always wins.

After dinner Marc took the trash out, and Sawyer wanted to help him.  I just thought this was cute...

I hope tomorrow is a good day too.  I like it when everyone wakes up on the right side of the bed :)

Legoland

While my mom was here last weekend we made a trip down to Legoland.  I didn't have very high expectations, but I was anxious to see it. It ended up being the perfect place to take two babies and a toddler.  It was such a calm day and everyone was happy...it really couldn't have been much better.

The day before going to Legoland Harper & Mazie played with Sawyer's Legos to prepare for their big adventure...

Before heading down to the park we soaked up some sun in the backyard.

I was probably the most excited out of everyone about going to Legoland.  I think the whole gang was pleasantly surprised by the park.

I am so lucky to have so many cute babies in my life.

They had a Lego display of Washington D.C.  It was pretty awesome.  My mom felt right at home :)

Sawyer was big enough to go on most of the rides.  Marc and I took her on one of those big ship rides that swings back and forth, we thought she might cry, but she laughed and said "Weee!" the whole time.  Harper liked the boat rides...nice and mellow...right up her alley.

Our little ball of energy, Mazie, actually fell asleep and napped in her stroller.  Our sleepy Harper didn't sleep a wink all day long (but she was happy).

I am so glad we got to do the Legoland thing with my mom. I wish she could be here more to do even more stuff with us :)

Marc wasn't stoked about spending the day at an amusement park, but he was a sport.

Me, my mom and my sister went on one of those laser gun rides.  We got really into the shooting.  It took me awhile to even realize that Sawyer was scared and crying.  Whoops :-/

Our last ride of the day was a family boat ride type thing.

It was a fun day of memories.  I love spending time with family.

Little Makeup Artist

My mom is here! Woot woot!

She is watching Mazie while my sister is at work, so today we took the 3 girls over to the Spectrum for a little lunch and to walk around.

We grabbed some grub at CPK.  Amazingly enough all of the little ones were really good.

When we were walking through Forever 21 Sawyer saw some eyeshadow she needed.  I decided to get it for her.  I think she is a budding makeup artist.

I have never seen anyone apply their eyeshadow like this.  She sure took it seriously.

And the result...

I made the mistake of letting her hold onto her eyeshadow while we were in the car on our way home.  By the time we reached our driveway she looked like she had been punched in the face and had two black eyes and her clothes were covered in taupe shimmer.  Fab.

p.s I am getting my hair done in like a week and a half...I know...it isn't looking so good these days.

Never Grow Up

Today is Harper's 9 month birthday, except she was born on May 29th...and February skips the 29th and it is now March 1st...so it makes it very confusing.  I am confused, are you?

Harper is my sunshine.  Our sunshine.  She makes our whole family happy.  Marc and I always catch Sawyer gently rubbing Harper's face and telling her that she loves her, it is to die for.  Harper is happy most of the time.  When she gets mad, she tends to get really mad, but lucky for us, it doesn't happen very often.  Harper still doesn't have any teeth, and she still isn't mobile, but she is still growing up way too fast and I need time to slow down.  Harper is a great eater and she loves Gerber puffs.  Harper goes to bed around 6:00 and sleeps until 7:00-8:00 the next morning.  We are lucky like that.  I can't imagine Harper not being apart of our family, she was totally meant to be.

I just want to eat her up.  I can't put into words her sweetness.

Sawyer is clearly our daughter.  Have you seen me dance?  Have you seen Marc dance?  Sawyer gets her moves from us (primarily me)...poor poor girl.  Those ridiculous arms?  All me.

I am obsessed with the Taylor Swift song "Never Grow Up" and I walk around our house all day singing it to my kids.  If I am not singing it, I am playing it on my iPhone.  The first verse is my favorite.  I sing it so much Sawyer is starting to pick up on some of the words...well, at least the key words.

What am I going to do when I don't get to spend the majority of my day laughing and smiling?  Kids are the best.

Although I always say I don't want my kids to grow up, I do love watching them grow, learn, change, explore, and become the people they are supposed to become.  Everyday is a journey and I am so glad I get to be apart of it.  I would hate for them to not grow up because they would miss out on so much, and then that is just kind of selfish of me to just want to keep them little for myself.  Right? Tangent.  Sorry.  It is so cornball and cliche but I really do love seeing things through their eyes.  Kids are so honest and simple, the way we all should be.

Harper was so excited that Sawyer was letting her play with her toy phone.

This was amazing.  Sawyer wanted to "help" Harper with the phone...so she grabbed her by the hair and moved her head around so that the phone would be up by her ear.  I don't know why I didn't stop it...but I think I was just in shock and curious to see what would happen (great reaction, right?) but Harper never cried and they both seemed ok with it, so whatever.

And some of our best friends had a baby girl, Lauren, about 4 1/2 months after Harper.  We somehow have never really taken pictures of them together.  Today we tried...sort of a fail.  Why does Harper always end up getting sad when we take pictures of her with her little friends?  Oh boy.

Remember how I said it would be selfish of me to want to keep my kids little forever...well I just decided I want to be selfish...I want them to be my babies forever :)
