Well, somehow it happened.
365 days flew by and our baby girl is now ONE YEARS OLD!
We are so excited for her to grow and learn and explore new things, but also sad to be reminded of how quickly the time can pass. This last year has been a little bit brighter because of this little one...
Harper Ray celebrated her first birthday on May 29th. We weren't planning on having a party for her, but about 10 days prior to her birthday I want into party planning mode and put something together for her. I started to feel guilty that we weren't having a celebration, and since we did have one for Sawyer's 1st birthday, I felt like it was extra important to do the same for Harps.
Sunday morning we hung out and got things ready around the house. Sawyer went with her dad to pick up cupcakes and flowers and Harper rested up and hung out with me and helped me do a little cleaning.
The girls were excited by the presents, and Sawyer couldn't wait to rip them all opened (even though they were gifted to her little sister). The Birthday Fairy did leave a little something for Sawyer though, since she has been such a great big sister and all.
Marc usually thinks I am kind of crazy about taking pictures, but he was a sport and took some of me and the birthday girl.
And he even let me take some of him.
Daddy's Girls. Both kids get so excited to see him. Sawyer drops whatever she is doing and runs out the door as soon as she hears Marc get home from work, and Harper starts smiling and kicking her legs whenever he walks into a room. Two lucky little ladies for sure.
I could just eat up the girls in their party dresses. And I could eat them up when they aren't in their party dresses. I just love them so much. And they are kind of cute.
Harper got this adorable bike from her grandparents. The Jr. Sky Princess :) It might be awhile before she can ride it, but it is pretty stinkin' cute to look at.
We had a dozen pink and white beach balls sitting by Harper's presents, and we later used them at the party for all of the kids to play with. Harper got a jewelry box and an "h" necklace from her parents. She can't wear the necklace yet, but it is a keepsake for her that she can wear when she gets older.
Decorating for the party was fun. I used the girls' dresses sort of as the inspiration.
The birthday hat and paper straws make me happy.
The guests got to nosh on Sprinkles cupcakes. Harper loves red velvet (possibly because this is pretty much the only kind of cupcake she has ever had) so we reserved her one with her birthday candle.
Since we had baby friends coming over, we had apple sauce and Gerber snacks as treats.
The girls had so much fun with their friends being here. Since Harper's birthday fell on Memorial Day weekend some of their friends (and cousin) couldn't make it, but they really did have a blast.
1. Sawyer and her friend Miley, the big girls at the party
2. Harper & Bella getting acquainted
3. Bennett and Harper playing and opening presents after the party (Bennett was a real ladies man...the only boy in the bunch)
4. Bella, Harper & Lauren. Lauren wasn't feeling very social :)
There were men at the party too...but we didn't bother getting a picture of them ;) Here are some of my faves and my kids' faves. It is so fun having baby friends! (we didn't really have that with Sawyer...it has been so awesome now that all of our friends are starting to have families)
1. Sawyer & Harper sharing their chalk with Miley & Claire
2. Sawyer and Miley getting their hug on
3. Sawyer and Claire checking out the bubble solution
4. Bennett was NOT a fan of the bubble machine
Our little one was a pretty tidy eater with her cupcake. And she did a good job devouring it!
The birthday girl and her family. We all love you Harper Ray!!! <3
